Review: Badly pressed vinyl - Extremely poorly manufactured vinyl - the edges are super sharp and rough .. the spindle hole is super narrow making it difficult to remove from the player and one of the vinyl has a bubble. Review: Ok - Ok

Got the record yesterday as a gift from a very generous friend of mine. Thanks again A! So now let's get down to what I discovered. 1. Outer sleeve/cover - lush, excellent artwork. Gatefold for double lp. Mostly identical to the one on the cassette. Durable for now. Don't know how well it'll age. 2. Inner sleeve- pretty good. Plastic sleeves with paper on the outer side. I'm glad they didn't stick to the terrible paper sleeves often found still on new and exorbitantly priced releases. 3. The records- NOT FLAT! The edges move up and down though my cart doesn't skip. Hmmmm. Allow the wax to cool well, please! Also the edges are pretty rough to touch unlike many other discs I have. 4. SOUND QUALITY- This is the ultimate takeaway for me when I buy a record. But what do we have here? i. Surface noise is a major problem on this album, especially in quiet passages. Crank up the volume and you'll know. A muffled squeak sort of a thing, more of that on the first disc. Damn. ii. The dialogues from the movie are monaural and sound like they do on a cheap VCD. It was originally in stereo but I haven't a clue why they could not find a better source. iii. The songs sound far better and thankfully they didn't chop off Dola re dola like they did on the cassette. My cart could not extract a great deal of clarity from the tracks, especially from the inner ones. Typically digital in character. iv. There is a track in the prelude and overture of the film, a classical one that is never included anywhere. Why couldn't they put it here? Strange! It could have made the listening experience more wholesome. Conclusion- The listening experience was far from bad but not the best. It feels like you can watch the whole movie without "watching it" for the tracks are programmed in sequence. But considering the premium price you pay you could at least expect a FLAT, QUIET and premium pressing but nah. Either they're in a hurry to press or they care less or they aren't very good at that. Collectible perhaps, but nowhere does it give you an immersive experience against your hard earned cash. I guess all the attention to detail went to the sleeves!
