Product description ------------------- What is Panax ginseng? Panax ginseng (English name - Asiatic ginseng) also occurs under the names of Chinese ginseng and ginseng. The name Panax derives from the Latin „Panaceum” i.e. an agent for all ailments. The Polish name (ginseng) comes from the phonetic transcription of the Chinese term for this “root-man”. The first European morphological description of ginseng and information about its recommended use appeared in the 17th century thanks to the Polish missionary – Jesuit Michał Boym in the work “Rerum Sinensium Compendiosa Descriptio”. Panax ginseng in the natural state occurs in Korea, the north-eastern part of China and in areas of eastern Russia. Currently, it is mainly obtained from multiannual crops. Allied s are Panax japonicum and Panax quinquefolium (originating from North America). Panax ginseng is a perennial growing up to 70 cm (long) with a thick light beige or gray root, which has a human shape. The main root is up to 20 cm long and 2.5 cm in diameter.
