you may want to use a clear top coat to seal it. I've noticed that, while the paint will adhere to the rub n buff, it tends to be easier to chip off. Plus, rub n buff technically doesn't 'dry' in the same way as paint.

Would you recommend using this on a hand towel holder?

I'm sorry I'm not much help on this one - I wouldn't only because I use a different process for bathroom towel hardware - with those I use an auto primer, then the color I want, and then an auto enamel top coat (all in spray cans and can get all of them at Walmart) - I've done this on a tub drain and all the bathtub/shower hardware and bathroom faucet and it has held up great. I used the rub-n-buff on the toilet shut off valve and hose to the toilet - that doesn't get touched much. I also plan to use it on a mirror frame. I also have a set of towel bars that I'm about to do, but I'm going to use the auto paint process. Hope that gives you another idea!
