I have a couple of these cameras now and have been hanging on a for a few weeks to see how they run before leaving a review. Overall I am very satisfied with the cameras. Being 720hd, the picture quality is good but not amazing. I have two cameras set up looking out of front and rear windows of my house. I bought my first camera as I needed proof when couriers were not making deliveries after i received a few 'your parcel has been delivered' notices (looking directly at you Amazon). A second camera soon followed to keep an eye on my car in our communal car park. I didn't need crystal clear quality for these purposes. The motion detection is pretty handy. I get notifications when the camera picks up movement and it is pretty accurate. The recordings have been able to prove that I have had a naughty courier who hasn't been doing the job correctly at times! I use SD cards in my cameras rather than subscribing to the cloud services. I can access my recordings easily and managing the data is straight forward. Playback is a doddle! The audio is ok. I don't use my cameras for their audio so couldn't give a fair review of the quality. Night vision..... Pretty useless in practice. Luckily for me, my cameras point out at well lit areas so when it gets dark they are still pretty decent. You get a fairly good quality black and white image in these conditions. I found my first camera a bit of a pain to set up but my second one was fine. The instructions are really straight forward and the hardware and app walks you through setup well. The phone app is great. Lots of options available to personalise your setup and run multiple cameras. The desktop application is simple but very straight forward to use. I have a second computer monitor running to use as a CCTV screen where I can see both cameras running at the same time. For the low price I paid for my cameras, I would say they are excellent. If you need really high quality images, maybe look at alternatives but for a cheap and easy to setup system, I would highly recommend yi.

This is for the 1080p Yi Home Camera. I really like this little camera. Image quality is good, it has night vision and is very reasonably priced compared to some other cameras. Set up was very easy and took about 2 minutes. It is powered via a 6ft long micro USB cable. If you want to put it up high or somewhere more than 6ft from a mains socket you can buy USB extension cables or connect it to a rechargeable powerbank and this means you can put your camera more or less wherever you like as long as its indoors. The most Impressive thing about this camera for me is the ease of connecting to it via the 4G network when I am out and about, something which some other cameras seem to struggle with but which seems to me to be essential. I had the builders in recently doing my bathroom and my Yi camera caught them having a nosey in my bedroom while I was out. Needless to say, they withdrew pretty quickly when they noticed the camera! I promptly received a push notification to my phone and had no trouble viewing a 6-second clip of the event which started just before motion was detected so I didn't miss anything, and also the live feed, all over 4G. When I got home I was able to access the SD card in the camera and view the whole event. The camera keeps recording to the SD card for 2 minutes after motion ceases just to make sure it doesn't miss anything. Overall I think this is a very good little camera for the price.

I bought this camera to keep an eye on my home, whilst I am out. It gave me peace of mind, knowing that everything is okay. I can open up the Yi Camera App on my phone and view the live camera feed and/or view any previous alerts. I even managed to check in on my home, whilst traveling abroad to Spain. I had mobile data roaming, so it was possible to check the cameras, just as if I was in the UK. Of course, when I went into the mountain areas, where there is no mobile data reception, I could not check anything. Most UK networks include the cost of data roaming in the EU. Outside, Europe, roaming charges can be expensive, although Wi-fi may be available. Motion Detection - the best feature is the motion detection, which is very sensitive. Sometimes, I have viewed the 6 second alert footage on my phone and wondered why it has been flagged up, only to notice in distance a car or a passer by. It is very sensitive. Picture Quality - it is described as 1080p quality. The camera is okay, but I do not think if it is good enough to identify burglars. The camera has night vision, so it can record detection, but drops to black and white mode. You may consider having good lighting side by side. You will need to experiment. Also, I am not sure if it can read car number plates etc... Street lighting or car headlights can blind it. Windows PC - You can download Windows PC software to be able monitor on your PC. You can monitor multiple cameras at the same time. Wired CCTV ? - I did consider a Wired CCTV Camera system. Such as those by HikVision, who are a world leader in CCTV systems. Whilst their products are tried and tested and used by professionals, but they don't have the cloud back up (unless you use a third party company). The subscription rates of those were more expensive, then rates for wireless cameras. The Wired CCTV system records locally to a recorder on your premises. However, a burglar can steal the recorder. The wired CCTV systems are robust, but they lack the flexibility and nimbleness of wireless systems. Nest / Hive / Ring - they have been advertising a lot. However, their subscription models are expensive. With Yi Camera, I have the option of stopping the subscription and it also backs up to memory card. This product is not bullet proof. If a burglar is in your home, they can turn off the camera (just by turning off the switch). Although, you would have been sent the 6 second alert on your phone (if in time). This product has no battery back up, but many other wireless cameras dont have this feature either. So if there is a power cut, it has no power to keep recording. In addition, you need to have power back-up for your Wi-Fi router. You may be in an area, where Wi-fi stops working or is unreliable, so there is no back-up to switch to mobile data. As you can see, there are multiple lines of failure. If I had lots of money, I would fit a wired 4k Camera system from HikVision. Trial - it mentions there is a one month trial, but you have to pay a subscription, before you can get it. 32GB - I ordered this card, but if you are only doing motion detection, then you can use a smaller capacity card. UPDATE: You may be better off with a 64GB, if your camera is facing the street, you will get lot of alters if the trees blow in the wind or a bird flies by. Subscription - they have a subscription of 7 day x 5 camera recording for 60 euros per year. Motion detection only. They have continuous detection, but that is more expensive. Continuous recording is far more expensive. Power- it gets power from a USB socket on the wall. EzVIZ - I also bought a wireless camera from this brand (because it is made by HikVision). An industry leader in CCTV. However, the EZViz is their range of wireless products. Having had both brands side by side. The YI Camera is far more superior. EzViz apps is n't so great. I like the fitting system of EzViz (it has a magnetic base). I read some of the negative reviews for the Yi Camera, however, I have not experienced any issues. Set up was very easy and reliable. UPDATE 2020: YiCamera, help me find that my new neighbours, had turned the property into what I suspected a pop-up brothel, everyone was coming night. I suspected criminal activity. It help me find out what was going on at night, but video quality is n't good enough to identify people, if they are walking fast, wearing hoodies. If a car headlights are pointing into the camera at night, it is going to capture a white blur. However, it did help me figure out what was going on, as I could hear cars turning up, people talking on the street at night at 1am, 2a, 3am 4am and disturbing my sleep, but the camera helped me put a picture, to what I was hearing in bed. I am paying for cloud, but I have no idea, how to save from it. Reviewing footage: That is a chore. As I had suspected criminal activity on my street. I had a memory card reader, and transfered the files to the PC for reviewing. Each file is 60seconds long. It does take time, but I found out the quickest way it to use VLC and the playlist editor and speed through it as it has a skip 10 seconds feature. SO you can review files and delete unwanted files. Complying with regulations: You need to see the ICO web site, as there are guidance on how to deal with CCTV footage. I put signage up. You also need to decide how long to keep the data. YI will delete things after 7 days (depending on subscription and memory card). Phone Data: If your camera is going to face the street, then make sure you have adequate data for your phone. If the camera is facing the phone, then you wont get much alerts. Wishlist: I have written to Yi for a feature request. One camera faces my living room, so very little activity. If there was an altert, I wanted to be notified right away as a matter of urgency!!!. However, if I have another camera facing the street and garden. I don't want to see an alert about a bird flying. So I don't want my phone to ping. So I might get 30 or 40 alerts, I would review them when if I get time.... Please leave a 'Helpful' note, so I know my efforts have helped others.

The camera's themselves are generally okay, wifi signal not bad at all either so you get a decent connection with them to your WiFi. You cannot turn off the Nightime mode so they will flip into infrared mode even if you disconnect the internal IR Lights, doesn't matter, can't force the camera's to stay in colour mode. Biggest problem though, and this is something you must be aware of before buying these camera's is that the app itself that you must use with these camera's is absolutely terrible. The company has also taken it upon themselves to infest their app with adverts, and I mean totally infested with adverts. You cannot even view an event as a fullscreen popup advert appears now also so you gotta find the "x" and click out of that before you can even see what the event was. Utterly awful practice by yi/kami as a company, just check the reviews on the app stores, filled with thousands of people complaining about the adverts. Oh and if you want to view more than one of your camera's at the same time, like the multiview feature of viewing 4 camera's? Well you gotta subscribe to their expensive cloud plan for that feature too. Awful. Good camera's that have been severly let down by an extremely poor app and support. Cloud plan is very expensive and it's features like multiview do not carry across to friends/neighbours you might share the camera's out too so they can view, plus it's very hard to cancel the recurring cloud plan if you do get it. Support is woeful also. Oh and one final important thing, if their servers go down, which has happened a few times now, even if you're not subscribed to their cloud plan, all of your camera's also go down and you cannot view anything, cannot even view what might be on the SD card or even view your cameras live. Would not recommend at all due to the extremely poor app experience plus the advert infestation in same. The app is essential to use your yi/kami camera's and this company have completely destroyed the app and thusly the camera's.

I paid about £17.99p for it and bought it solely to be able to keep an eye on the dog if we were out. Wasn't expecting much for the money paid, but so cheap and given the many positive reviews thought I would give it a go. I am very impressed with it as it was easy to set up (even for me who normally has to wait for my daughter to visit to set up anything a bit techhie). The App was easy to download onto my iPhone and plugged it in and all went step by step. I haven't upgraded to the subscription to the cloud as basically I just want to look at it via live view and this is free. I cannot comment on motion detection as have not used this part of it but other reviews seem to indicate that this works fine as well, although only for 6 seconds ? and this appears to be free also,. The picture quality is very good and it seems to be very quick. I have 2 RING security products which always seem to lag and find this quicker than them which is unbelievable given the difference in pricing! For a bit of additional security inside the home or to check on a pet when away from home it is excellent value for money.

I use this camera for home surveillance, mostly for our dog at home. It's very simple to set up in just a few steps. It has a long cable that make it easy to set in high places as well. it has a wide enough angle to cover a significant area as well. It pairs with a proprietary app, this app has had a few updates recently improving the stability and user interface. At first I wasn't really happy with the app as it took a while to connect but it's been improving a lot these days. You can add multiple cameras (of the same brand) to the app and it's very simple to switch between them. The night vision works like a charm, with a clear picture even when zooming in. It has a built in mic and speaker for dual communication. Regarding connectivity, the product states that it only connects to 2.4ghz wi-fi and at home I use BT Ultrafast fibre, where the router signal apparently does not actively split the 5ghz and 2.4ghz channels, at least with the little understanding I have on this, however, the camera connects with no issues to my wi-fi so this is a massive plus if you are unsure about your signal. The alerts could be improved as a few (very few) times I've gotten delayed alerts but most of the times it works perfectly. You can set it up with an SD card or pay for the cloud storage. I personally use this without either of these as the alerts give you a 5 second video that you can save on your device.

I have bought four of these cameras in total an am, overall, happy with the product itself. However, the amount of ads on the app is incredibly annoying. If you get an alert from a camera, you cannot view instantly, as you have to wait for a time for the ads to finish before you can view the live, (or previously, sd card, captured), footage. I feel that their cloud plan is expensive for the amount of storage they offer and feel that the increasing amount of ads on the app is a way of pushing you towards purchasing a cloud plan. Not really much point in having security for your home if you can't access alerts immediately. This isn't what I thought I was buying into when I purchased and, as a consequence, I am seriously looking for alternatives now.

It's an alert system. It'll record 6 seconds after it detects motion, and alerts you via your phone about the motion. This is fine and what i wanted. Picture quality is nice, too. Video has a few seconds delay, but is clear. The subscription service is all over the app, and i find it a bit unreasonable. You have to be careful not to subscribe by accident. The app is not particularly reliable on an iphone. Notifications sometimes work and sometimes are delayed (therefore not working for an alert system). I cant stand the constant and all over itself ads for the subscription service and it makes me feel like im getting very little without it and worried about accidentally subscribing. I think thats not fair when ive bought the product and use it as it is. This was a well priced motion detection camera, and the picture is excellent, though it has a few seconds delay. The app is less reliable with notifications and connections. However, for its purpose, i very much appreciate this camera. *I updated to 5 stars because it's years later and the thing is still working. It detects people and allows me to view the six seconds. It's excellent.

Me va perfecta la compré para vigilar a mi bebé y funciona perfectamente, detención de movimiento y sonido y visión nocturna.
