Are the knives sturdy? They won't break or pull out of the handles will they?

they are very sturdy and made with a full tang so they shouldn't fall apart or pull out of the handle. They are every bit as sturdy as the Butz knife I have....

Would the gloves fit a 10 year old or they would be too big?

I googled to get the average size hand of 10 year old and found that the gloves will be loose fitting and fingers long. In both cases it may be more of a safety hazard than protection. I hope this helps.

Perfect set for a beginner. All edges were sharp and comfortable handles. Need honing often but I am working with cottonwood bark and this is apparently common. I am well pleased. When I am ready to replace with higher quality, I will set this set aside for my grandson.
