Moon Man

This is my go to gift for new and expecting parents. Tomi Ungerer's charming story about the man in the moon hitching a ride to earth on the tail of a comet to dance becomes a favorite. Ungerer illustrated his story with colorful and engaging art. It's great to read to newborns to develop their listening and get them into the habit of being read to. As they age, they appreciate the story AND the illustrations. As the reader, you get to see how Tomi added visual humor. I'd need more than 5 stars to indicate how much I and the people I've given it have enjoyed this book.

Great book now I gotta get the movie!

I read this book to my daughters many many times throughout their childhood and we all loved Moon man so much! The colorful pictures are gorgeous and heartwarming. We loved seeing Moonman experience Earth. I ordered a copy for a dear friend whose late husband was an astrophysicist.

this book is special. It is a bit sad but kids might not realize that. It is nonetheless a memorable story that stays with you. The colors and the drawings are like nothing you've seen before. The words are perfect. and it rings true. I wish there could have been a happy ending though...but it's good this way.

If I were a children's author--I'd be Tomi! Beautiful art and fascinating story-your kids will love it--my fav is THE HAT--get it if you don't already have it--

Ungerer introduces kids to haters and fascists who victimize I kind and gentle man who wants to be free and loving. But this little man has a power that he can use too be free- he can disappear into nithingness and reappear whole again! Oh, how I wish I could do that!

Another Tomi Ungerer delight! Our whole family 2 - 72 became enchanted with the Moon Man and his sad experience on earth. Our two year old spotted the moon man in the sky many afternoons and early evenings. We still talk about him months later

Lovely book with beautiful illustrations and a charming story too. It's nicely printed, with good quality thick paper; the large format suits the story well. I bought my copy from a 3rd party marketplace seller - quite a bargain! Do also try the animated film based on this book as this is quite magical: Moon Man [DVD ]

My sister in law bought this book and The Three Robbers for my little girl when she was born. Fabulous books! Have since bought them both for several friends... So imaginative! Thank you Tomi Ungerer! The drawings are spectacular. I enjoy reading it and looking at the illustrations as much as she does. Love it!

This book, was my favorite book as a child. As a grown up, I decided to buy it again, since I had lost the old one to time. Now I read it in a very different way, but still enjoy it so much. Wonderfull illustrations and colouring. A treasure.

It's a great art to come up with a perfect picturebook. It's easy to confuse simplicity with banality, real emotion with saccarine sentimentality. It's even harder to make a picturebook that satisfies all ages with something to say to everyone without being heavy-handed and moralistic. There aren't that many that really stand out as true classics over the years. This is one.

My daughter was bought this as a gift and I loved the book so much we have bought it for several friends since. Beautiful pictures and imaginative story.
