Nice ORGANICALLY grown in USA 🥔 Russet potatoes used to make these "instant" mashed potatoes. Love that these instant mashed potatoes have no chemical additives, preservatives or other questionable ingredients! I mistakenly bought another Edwards and Sons "organic instant mashed potatoes" product of theirs that does still happen to contain "mono and di-glycerides from palm oil"...bad stuff...so keep that in mind that some of their products still do contain these highly processed unhealthy and ecologically harmful ingredients. FYI: 1prepared serving is 1/2 cup. 1 packet makes 2cups mashed potatoes. Easy to make with a combination of hot water, butter and milk. I use a lite chicken broth instead of plain H2O, add some sour cream, extra butter, dried chives, a little parsley, garlic granules, salt and pepper...and they're super delicious!! Mine weren't goopy or gluey at all...you can decrease your liquids if you find them "goopy"... Taste and consistency was great. I store left-over mashed potatoes in fridge...they get quite thick though, so I just add a little milk/water while reheating them.

I love these organic instant mashed potatoes! I control the consistency and texture with how much liquid I choose to add. I can make them thick or creamy. The quality ingredients are top shelf with an excellent flavor. I also use Emerson and Sons instant organic mashed potatoes to thicken soups. I highly recommend this brand and product.

The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that I was supposed to receive a pack of 6, but I only got 5. I hope that was an honest mistake and it doesn't happen again. I will be ordering more since I like them, and they are organic. Potatoes are on the "dirty dozen" so organic is important.

Before I "went organic" (as much as I can, anyway!) I used to use Potato Buds or other boxed instant "potato flakes" mashed potato mix (like Idahoan Real Mashed Potatoes ) NOT because I didn't know how to make mashed potatoes, because to the contrary, I ♡ cooking and baking (and even went to Paris for a 10-week baking & pastry course) but rather just for the "convenience factor". Because it was a lot quicker to whip up some boxed mashed potatoes, than to peel & cut up a ton of potatoes, wait for them to get boiled and then mash them up. However, after I "went organic", I started making mashed potatoes from scratch with organic, non-GMO potatoes and other organic ingredients the majority of the time when I'd make mashed potatoes. Occasionally, though, I'd buy a box or two of these Edward & Sons Home Style Organic Mashed Potatoes from a local brick & mortar supermarket (like Whole Foods) But recently my mother, who has been ill, wanted mashed potatoes that she would not have to wait ages to have (because it took forever to wash, peel & cut, then boil and mash potatoes) when she felt like having it. Unfortunately, when I looked for it at the local markets, I could no longer find it. I don't know if they stopped carrying it -- or if its just out of stock, but everytime I checked for it, it wasn't there. So either they did not have new stock when I was there, or they have stopped carrying it. Either way, since I couldn't find it (or any other organic mashed potatoes mix) in local stores, and I didn't want to buy conventional mashed potatoes mix, I looked online and found a pack of 6 boxes of organic mashed potatoes for about the same (or even cheaper!) price than it had been in the local stores. I have bought it at least a couple times now (because my mom has been going through a couple boxes (often even more!) every week -- and it has been GREAT! Not only is it DELICIOUS and organic, but its very fast and easy to make (I don't even bother with the instructions!). I just put some water for boiling in the Cuisinart Electric Kettle which depending on the amount of water put in, doesn't take more than a few minutes. Then I pour the boiling water into a serving bowl, stir in some organic (or Kerrygold) butter, salt and the Edward & Sons Homestyle Organic Mashed Potatoes and then add some organic milk, mix it together, and vóila, warm, yummy organic mashed potatoes in 5-10 minutes or less! ★☆★☆★ 5 STARS!!!!

Unfortunately I didn't scrutinize the box in the picture. After throwing my lovely pot of mashed potatoes for dinner away, I looked carefully and there, above "Homestyle" (which to me means salt, pepper at the most) there are tiny drawings of a red onion, and salt & pepper shakers. Didn't even see them. And I didn't read the ingredients because I assumed (uh-oh) that Homestyle meant homestyle, not "gourmet." (Onion is listed... sigh...) Never in my 70+ years have I added, nor wanted to add, onions to my mashed potatoes. (I have had garlic mashed potatoes a couple times at friends and in restaurants but never was offered onion mashed potatoes. Ever.) Mashed potatoes are the clean and humble base to showcase the main part of a meal - fried chicken, roast, gravy, shepherd's pie, pork loin, chops or even veggies, etc. But they add a benign flavor and creamy mouth feel that supports the star of the meal. Onion is a bold, competitive taste and smell. I made one package, couldn't eat it, gave the other 5 away to the food pantry. The premise is excellent: organic potatoes, a good company (love their canned organic mushrooms), quick and easy to make on a stovetop, & good consistency. Unfortunately, for me the flavor was plain awful. Recommendation? Call them "Homestyle with Onion" and then please make one just plain "Homestyle."
