Get it
This is a champion grill. You need this in your life. Got a hitch on the truck? Take it camping. I bbqd while driving on the freeway heading to the tailgate football game last year. Showed up, cut up some tritip and ate before the game. Left a slow cook going during the game and had some more bbq after the game. It holds its temp incredibly well. Easy to clean, I can sear at 900 deg, I can slow cook at 150-200 or whatever. Itโs sturdy and robust. The air intakes are well built. Get this.

All time best!
Best BBQ Iโve ever had, and Iโve had a lot. Low and slow is easy and high temp too. Well built and uses very little charcoal. Better than the clay/ceramic type. Heats up quicker in winter ( very good for low/slow so you donโt overshoot the heat point) and wonโt crack due to temp differential. Like the idea of a trailer hitch but havenโt used itโฆ

Great for low and slow, or high heat
My wife wanted to be able to cook bread and pizza outside during the summer months so as not to heat the house by using the oven. Breads and pizza require high temperatures (550-700) and indirect heat, so it is difficult to do on a regular charcoal grill. So I sold my Weber Performer and bought this Broil King Keg 5000. I also wanted to do more low and slow cooking/smoking on the grill. The first time we fired it up, we cooked two loaves of bread and a pie in the Keg, and it easily reached and kept the temperature at around 600 degrees. This Keg is great for low and slow also, and requires much less charcoal (either lump or briquettes) to achieve and maintain temperature. It is more difficult to quickly go from low and slow to a sear level of heat (the Reverse Sear). In fact, I ended up buying a Char-Broil Tru Infrared gas grill to do quick high temp grilling and searing. I like the combination of the two grills, but it is an added expense. Here's the summary: PROS: This grill heats up relatively quickly and holds heat well Great for low and slow, smoking with wood chunks, or high temp pizza and bread cooking Large overhead for cooking whole chickens and turkeys, or using the secondary grate for extra cooking space No worries about ceramic cracking like on regular Kamado grills (especially during shipping!) Removable ash drawer Side tables are useful with 3 hooks each for utensils, and easily removed if needed Rolling cart is very sturdy. CONS: Does not work well for moving quickly between high and low heat or for setting up 2 zone cooking Difficult to lower temperature once you get it to high heat Difficult to obtain searing due to distance from coals to grate The CONS for this grill are not unique to this grill, but apply to most Kamado style cookers. They should really be considered as outdoor ovens rather than grills. I have obtained near perfect results from doing a slow cook with wood chunks on a steak to get it up to a uniform 115 degrees (using an internal oven type meat thermometer) then moving it to the preheated gas grill for searing, grill marks, and to achieve the perfect 130 degree medium rare. Before buying any new grill, I would recommend reading Meathead Goldwyn's new book Meathead: The Science of Great Barbecue and Grilling . It has really valuable information about grills, grilling, myth busting, etc., and would probably help you make a better decision on what you want in a grill.

Looooove this thing!
I was going to write a review about how this keg can't ruin any food but reviewer Paul Zedack already covered that part. ๐. My wife thinks this thing is magic because everything has come out moist and flavoritius. Burgers, chicken, shrimp, pastrami, bacon, DUCK!!! Holy moley roast duck at Christmas was spectacular. In winter. Outside. Could not have done that in the webber. We've simply started using it as our second oven. I even floated the idea of getting a second one ( you need two - one for hot and one for not so hot, really!!!๐ ๐ ๐) and got no pushback!!! There are some tweaks that could be done to make it better - the grill grate really should have a removable section for weird adds. Not sure why they went away from that. But most of the time is not an issue if you plan your cook right. Air leakage is a minor issue, gaskets could seal a bit better but again I've had no problems maintaining 225 for hours. I had no shipping damage when I got mine, but yah it's a heavy beast and if the shippers drop it it's probably going to get bent. However that's also the beauty of the steel keg - drop this one and it gets dented. drop a ceramic keg and it's broken. Anyhow - 5 stars after almost 1 year of use. ๐

Product came in damaged.
Was really excited to get this product and start using it but when I opened it and saw the damage plus build quality I was disappointed. Not only did it have scuff marks on it even though there was no damage done to the box the lid does not line up properly so you have to grab the front handle and press down and to the left in order for it to release the locking clasp. During the seasoning process the manufacture describes on their website I found it nearly impossible to use the clasp on the front of the unit because it was so hot to the touch. The additional removable grill it comes with fits in the provided holes in the cast iron grate but leans the side when attached. You would figure for the amount of money you pay for the unit it would have a better build quality. I have reached out to the manufacture for support so we shall see what they recommend.

Full disclosure, I did not buy this here because it was on sale elsewhere. But I love it so much, I have to write a review. This is the best grill I've ever experienced. I've researched the big green egg and the kamado Joe but I chose this and do not regret it. My first concern was that there is no heat deflector. But you don't need it, get it to your temperature and you can make pulled pork or ribs without any overly charred parts. No heat deflector, no water pan, but 4 hours at 250 and my ribs were the juiciest they have ever been. Temperature control is a dream. It'll take you a while to fine tune, but you can get it steady at your ideal temperature right away. Quick hint, remember to play with the top and bottom vent. You don't need them both at the same setting. Having locks also helps because you know the lid is perfectly sealed when the lock closes. The outside will stay cool to the touch even at 400 Fahrenheit. I can touch the area where the coals sit and it is just slightly warm. I could talk to you for hours about why this grill is the best, but just get it, you won't regret it. If you have questions, ask and as long as Amazon tells me that there is a question, I'll happily answer it. Happy grilling, Steve

Unfortunately we never got far in to the assembly of the Keg - we found that the stand was manufactured incorrectly, and thus we could not install the hitch pin to secure the body. The threaded hole was supposed to be drilled horizontally though the mounting bar, but instead was drilled vertically - meaning it did not align with the holes on the Keg's body.
