Manga Messengers

Great Bible Manga for those who are more visual when needing to read

Love these books, thank you!

Although this is the last book in the series (I believe), my review applies to the entire set. When we bought the initial book, Manga Messiah, I admit I was desperate to find anything biblical in nature that wouldn't make our 16-year old's "head spin around." Through peers and other influences, she had become that antagonistic toward our Christian faith. Since she had once been a Manga fan, we thought we'd tried the first book in the series, Manga Messiah. Our daughter, who is also a special needs child, absolutely loved it! She didn't even realize at first that the Jeshua in the novel was the same Jesus she had grown up hearing about. She said the story was so exciting and she loved the graphics. Before she was even done with the first book, she was begging us to buy the next one. Of course we did, and eventually purchased all the novels in this series. For our family, at least, these books have been an answer to prayer and have allowed us to have healthy conversations about the Bible, faith, and morals--something we couldn't have imagined two years ago.

This book is the fifth installment of Tyndale's biblical manga series (after Manga Messiah, Manga Metamorphosis, Manga Mutiny, and Manga Melech). All of the books in this series feature high-quality artwork from respected Japanese artists. Manga Messengers illustrates stories from the Old Testament, with a focus on the prophets. Some stories included are: the story of Solomon, the story of Elijah, the story of Elisha, and the story of Jonah. These books are a wonderful gift for any Christian, particularly young people who also enjoy anime-style artwork. Whether you are familiar with the Old Testament or not, this book portrays biblical events with historical accuracy and a very genuine sentiment. Perhaps the most appealing element of Tyndale's books is the realistic treatment of biblical characters and events. Every larger-than-life bible character is presented in a very human light that we can understand and relate to. I highly recommend the books from this series to anyone looking for a fresh take on reading and understanding scripture.

really good alternative to most comic-book trends.

GREAT series for kids and adults! It’s out of print and books are hard to find. Get what you can ASAP!

Makes bible stories interesting!

Chronologically Manga Messengers from NEXT is the third book (of five so far, a sixth book is planned) that sets the Old Testament narrative in context with the foretelling of the Messiah. These books are absolutely the most powerful way for young people of all ages to spend time in the Word - you will find that your child turns to the full Bible in order to go deeper into the meaning - but these books are awesome for setting them on a course filled with excitement! With editions now published in over 25 languages, young people celebrate that their faith is part of a global youth culture movement - that they are enjoying the word of God just as millions of other kids are in many languages. Because it is so accessible and (dare to say, FUN) kids are sharing their faith through telling the stories in Manga Mutiny, Manga Melech, Manga Messengers, Manga Messiah and Manga Metamorphosis from NEXT.

I found it really hard to get into reading stories from the bible but with these manga Books it is FANTASTIC!! They're bible references at the bottom on each page so if you want to find the story in the bible you can!!! I recommend it without a doubt Hope this helps x

Book came a bit damaged. The manga itself is cool though.
